5 essentials for a camping trip

Before kids I used to love camping! I loved it so much that I’d even take kids on school trips for many weekend over the spring and summer terms.

If you’re heading on your first-ever camping trip and you don’t know where to start then don’t worry, you have definitely come to the right place. With so many things to organise before you head to the campsite, you need to ensure you’re packing absolutely everything you need. From a high-quality tent to delicious meals to cook on the campfire, you want to be sure you’re not forgetting any of the essentials. With that in mind, here are 5 things you need to take on every camping trip:

– A Sturdy Tent

One of the most important aspects of camping, of course, is a strong and sturdy tent. Whilst you can choose to camp under the stars, most people prefer to camp in a tent for safety as well as privacy. Although it may seem like a bit of a minefield when it comes to buying the perfect tent for your trip, there are a number of different things you can consider to make it a little bit easier. How many people will be sharing the tent? What kind of weather conditions will you be camping in? What is your overall budget?

Once you’ve worked out the answer to the above questions, buying your tent should be nice and simple. For tips and tricks when it comes to buying the perfect tent, you can visit this site here.

And my top tip! Practise putting up the tent before you actually go on your camping trip!

– Cooking Equipment And Lots Of Delicious Food

Once you have found your perfect tent you need to think about your cooking equipment, especially if you know you’re going to be cooking on the campsite during your trip.

After purchasing your cooking gear, you then need to think about the type of food you’re going to be taking with you. Easy campfire meals include Lincolnshire sausage, burgers, fajitas and spaghetti bolognese. As long as it can be cooked on a hob or on a BBQ, you should be absolutely fine.

– Self-Inflating Mattresses, Blankets And Pillows

Although self-inflating camping mattresses are not essential, they’re a great way to ensure your comfort during the night. Sleeping on the ground can be incredibly uncomfortable so having that little bit of extra support can definitely help when it comes to sleeping at night. As well as a mattress, you need to ensure you’re bringing blankets and pillows.

– A Rain Cover, Just In Case

Although you may not be camping during bad weather, you need to ensure you have a rain cover for your campsite just in case. There’s nothing worse than starting to cook and then realising it’s about to start raining heavily, ruining all of your expensive camping equipment and food.

– A Sense Of Adventure

Finally, you need to ensure you have a sense of adventure. Camping at times isn’t easy and if you don’t embrace it for what it is, you’re not going to have a good time.
